مقدمه: بسیاری از افرادی که با بیماری روانی مزمنی دست‌به‌گریبان هستند، بر نقش فعالیت‌های ورزشی در جنبه‌های بهبود  وضعیت روان‌شناختی و مدیریت علائم بیماری‌شان تأکید دارند. بر این اساس، پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسی آثار شرکت در فعالیت‌های ورزشی ـ تفریحی بر کیفیت زندگی افراد با اختلال اسکیزوفرنیا شکل گرفت.
روش کار: روش پژوهش نیمه‌آزمایشی است. جامعۀ آماری شامل کلیۀ بیماران زن با اختلال اسکیزوفرنیا بود که در بیمارستان روان‌پزشکی رازی شهر تهران در سال ۱۳۹۴ بستری بودند. از میان آنها ۲۴ نفر با استفاده از روش نمونه‌گیری تصادفی انتخاب شده و به دو گروه (۱۲ نفر آزمایش و ۱۲ نفر کنترل) تقسیم شدند. ابزار پژوهش پرسش‌نامۀ کیفیت زندگی سازمان بهداشت جهانی بود که ۴ خرده‌مقیاس سلامت اجتماعی، سلامت محیطی، سلامت روان و سلامت جسمانی دارد. پس از اجرای پیش‌آزمون، آزمودنی‌های گروه آزمایش ۱۲ هفته و هر هفته ۳ جلسه حضور در فعالیت‌های ورزشی ـ تفریحی گروهی را دریافت کردند. برای تجزیه‌وتحلیل داده‌ها از تحلیل کوواریانس تک‌متغیری و چندمتغیری و نرم‌افزار SPSS نسخۀ ۲۳ استفاده شد.
یافته‌ها: با توجه به یافته‌های پژوهش میان دو گروه در نمرۀ کل کیفیت زندگی اختلاف معناداری وجود داشت (۰/۰۰۱=sig و ۹۱/۸۲=F). همچنین نتیجۀ تحلیل مانکوای گروه‌ها پس از حذف اثر پیش‌آزمون نشان می‌دهد که تفاوت معناداری بین میانگین نمرات دو گروه آزمایش و کنترل در پس‌آزمونِ عامل سلامت جسمانی (۰/۰۰۱=sig و ۲۴/۳۹=F)، در عامل سلامت روانی (۰/۰۰۱=sig و ۲۷/۲۴=F)، در عامل سلامت اجتماعی (۰/۰۰۱=sig و ۵۹/۶۳=F)و در نهایت در عامل سلامت محیط (۰/۰۰۱=sig و ۸۰/۸۱=F) وجود دارد. نتایج آشکار ساخت که تغییرات ایجادشده به‌دلیل اثربخشی برنامه‌های ورزشی ـ تفریحی در گروه آزمایش است.
نتیجه‌گیری: حضور در فعالیت‌های ورزشی ـ تفریحی به افزایش کیفیت زندگی در افراد با اختلالات روانی مزمن منجر می‌شود. همچنین حضور در فعالیت‌های ورزشی ـ تفریحی به ارتقای سلامت روانی، جسمانی، اجتماعی و محیطی آنها منتج می‌شود. توصیه می شود که روان‌شناسان، کاردرمانگران و سایر متخصصان بهداشت روان که در مراکز روان‌پزشکی کشور مشغول به کار هستند، از فعالیت‌های ورزشی ـ تفریحی برای ارتقای سطح روان‌شناختی بیماران بهره بگیرند.
