Introduction: When a child is hospitalized, paying attention and understanding the needs of the parents is as important as understanding the needs of the child. Considering the importance of the subject, this study was conducted with the aim of designing and psychometrically assessing the needs of parents of hospitalized children in Iran. Methodology: The initial questionnaire was designed based on existing questionnaires and extensive literature review. Face and content validity were measured by two quantitative and qualitative methods. Construct validity was determined with the exploratory factor analysis approach in R-based Jamovi software. The reliability of the tool was determined by calculating the Cronbach's alpha coefficient and intracluster correlation coefficient. Findings: In the qualitative review of face validity and content, the necessary changes were applied according to the opinion of the expert panel. CVR and CVI of the whole questionnaire were 0.97 and 0.98, respectively. The questionnaire entered the construct validity stage with 38 items and 18 items were removed by exploratory factor analysis and 20 items remained. The sampling adequacy test showed the adequacy of sampling and based on parallel analysis, 6 factors were extracted which explained 8.46% of the variance. One factor that only included two items were removed and finally the extracted factors included: "communication-based on respect", "comfort ", "trust", "information" and "needs of family members". The intracluster correlation coefficient was 0.92 and Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.95.
