This study aimed to determine health nurses promotion needs, stress resources and workplace problems. Methods: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study which was conducted on 232 nurses from 5 hospitals of Urmia  City. Participants were selected based on stratified random sampling. Data collection was done by a questionnaire with 5 parts of demographic characteristics, a tool for assessing health promotion needs, cancer screening self exams, evaluation of workplace problems, and sources of stress in workplace. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression. Results: The results showed that nurses needed to practice health promoting behaviors on the areas of effective stress management (62/8%), physical activity (61.2%), diet (56.1%), sleep hours (53%), low back pain (44.7%), effective interpersonal relationship manners (42.7%), and weight control (39.7%). Common workplace stressors were: high work load (68.9%), Insufficient sleeps (64.1%), inappropriate behaviors of patients or their families (54.2%), and managers' behavior (52.5%). Only 5.2% of male nurses and 26.3% of female ones reported doing regular testicular and breast self examinations. Among female nurses, 15.5%had the history of Pap smear test. Conclusion: Results showed that nurses face with workplace problems and stress so they need to practice health promoting behaviors. The main predictors of nurses' stress were improving health in the field of stress management, exercise, and effective interpersonal relationship and preventing back pain.
