Considering constructive effects of this process, it is important to identify its motivational factors. This study aimed to investigate motivational factors for collaboration among nurses.   Methods: The data were collected through unstructured and in-depth interviews with 18 purposively selected nurses working at hospitals from Tehran, Tabriz and Ilam cities and field notes. All the interviews were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using an inductive content analysis method.   Result: The following categories were emerged as motivational and promotional factors in collaboration among nurses: personal achievements (with subcategories: beliefs, work ethics, attitude to collaboration and hospitalization experiences) and appreciations (with subcategories: admiration, maintaining interpersonal respect, meeting expectations and consulting).   Conclusion: The f indings indicated that motivation affects collaboration among nurses.
