Introduction & Objective: One of the most primer responsibilities of a nurse as a caretaker, is providing continuous caretaking. So enhancing quality of caretaking and increasing patients satisfaction are known as indexes of producing effect in nurses work. The purpose of this study was to assess of effect discharge planning on patients satisfaction.
Materials & Methods: This research is a clinical work evaluating, which 120 patients were arranged in two groups before and after the research. One group case another group control whom were chosen random based on homogenization variables like: age, gender, the term of hospitalization and kind of their disease, and then they were studied. Satisfaction evaluating questionnaire was used. The nurses of subject group after one month training in releasing planning in the way of face to face, they teached the patients and met their caretaking needs. Head nurses had the role of consultants and advisers and they checked the caretaking activities of nurses regularly in each work shift and controlled them. After 3 month, the amount of patients satisfaction after participation in subject group gathered. The data resulted from questionnaire were analysed in form of T-independent and bigeminal tests, Manvitny and Vilcakson and exact Fisher tests and SPSS soft ware was used with the intention of analyzing the data and information.
Results: The results showed that the patients satisfaction based on quality in both groups before participation had no difference and had been rather in dissatisfaction level (p=1.000). Whereas after participation, satisfaction in control group showed no difference (p=1.000) but in case group, satisfaction was in proper level and statistical tests showed that the difference is meaningful (p=0.000).
Conclusion: Discharge planning as a directed administrative work can be an effective step in removing patients problems and increasing their satisfaction and causes continuity of caretaking. Administering discharge planning as a directed work can increase and enhance the patients satisfaction.
