مقدمه: بیماری قلبی‌ ـ عروقی از شایع‌ترین بیماری‌های مزمن در ایران و جهان است. پژوهش‌های انجام‌شده نشان می‌دهد که اضطراب مرگ در بیماران قلبی شایع است. پژوهش‌های زیادی به تأثیر روش‌های مختلف دارویی و غیر‌دارویی در کاهش پیامدهای روان‌شناختی بیماران قلبی پرداخته‌اند. از روش‌های غیر‌دارویی و کمتر‌شناخته‌شده عصر کنونی برنامه مراقبت معنوی است. هدف این پژوهش تعیین تأثیر برنامه مراقبت معنوی بر اضطراب مرگ بیماران قلبی است.
روش کار: این پژوهش یک کارآزمایی بالینی تصادفی‌شده است. ۱۰۰ بیمار قلبی بستری در بخش مراقبت‌های ویژه قلب بیمارستان شهید مدرس تهران با استفاده از روش نمونه‌گیری در‌دسترس از دی تا اسفند۱۳۹۴ در پژوهش شرکت کردند. نمونه‌ها به روش تصادفی به دو گروه کنترل (مراقبت معمول) و آزمون (مراقبت معنوی) تقسیم شدند. پژوهشگر مقیاس ۱۵ آیتم اضطراب مرگ تمپلر را قبل و بعد از مداخله برای بیماران هر دو گروه تکمیل کرد. مراقبت معنوی بر اساس برنامه تدوین‌شده (حضور حمایت‌گرایانه، حمایت از تشریفات مذهبی بیمار و استفاده از سیستم‌های حمایتی)، تمایل و نیاز بیمار برای ۳ روز متوالی (از ساعت ۱۷ تا ۲۱) در بیماران گروه آزمون انجام شد. در‌نهایت داده‌ها با استفاده از آزمون‌های توصیفی و تحلیلی مانند: t-test، کای‌دو و ANOVA در نرم‌افزار SPSS نسخه ۲۳ تجزیه‌و‌تحلیل شد.
یافته‌ها: نتایج این پژوهش نشان می‌دهد بین توزیع متغیرهای زمینه‌ای گروه کنترل و آزمون قبل از مداخله اختلاف معنی‌داری وجود ندارد. تغییر معنی‌داری در میزان اضطراب مرگ بیماران گروه کنترل قبل (۶/۹۹۸ ± ۵۶/۳۸) و بعد از مداخله (۵/۸۳۸ ± ۳۸/۹۶) یافت نشد (۰/۴۹۸= P). هم‌چنین تغییر معنی‌داری در میزان اضطراب مرگ در گروه آزمون قبل (۵/۷۱۵± ۳۹/۹۶) و بعد از مداخله (۶۱۳/ ۵± ۳۹/۹۰) نیز یافت نشد (۰/۸۹۸= P).
نتیجه‌گیری: نتایج این پژوهش نشان می‌دهد گرچه میزان اضطراب مرگ بیماران قلبی بعد از اجرای مراقبت معنوی کاهش یافته بود، اما این کاهش، از نظر آماری، معنی‌دار نبود.
