مقدمه: پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسی تأثیر مشاوره شیردهی بر خودکار آمدی شیردهی مادران نخست‌زای مراجعه کننده به بیمارستان‌های زنان شهر ملایر انجام شد.
روش کار: این مطالعه به‌صورت کارآزمایی بالینی دو گروهی بر روی ۶۰ نفر از زنان باردار مراجعه کننده به بیمارستان‌های زنان شامل دکتر غرضی و مهر شهر ملایر انجام شد. زنان باردار به روش نمونه‌گیری در دسترس انتخاب شدند. تخصیص نمونه‌ها در دو گروه به روش تصادفی بلوکی انجام شد و سایز بلوک‌‌ها مضربی از تعداد گروه‌ها در نظر گرفته شد. ابزار گردآوری اطلاعات شامل پرسش نامه ویژگی‌های دموگرافیک و مامایی و پرسش نامه خودکار آمدی شیردهی فکس و دنیس بود. مداخله طبق اصول مشاوره‌ای GATHER صورت گرفت. خودکار آمدی شیردهی مادران قبل از مداخله و ۴ هفته پس از زایمان در هر دو گروه ارزیابی شد.
یافته‌ها: واحدهای پژوهش در دو گروه کنترل و آزمون از نظر ویژگی‌های دموگرافیک همگن بودند، تغییر نمرۀ خودکارآمدی شیردهی مادران بعد از مداخله در گروه آزمون نسبت به گروه کنترل تفاوت آماری معنی‌داری داشت (۰/۰۰۱>P)، در گروه آزمون، تغییر نمرۀ خودکارآمدی شیردهی مادران بعد از مداخله نسبت به قبل از آن معنی‌دار بود (۰/۰۰۱>P).
نتیجه گیری: نتایج مطالعه نشان داد ارائۀ مشاوره و آموزش‌ها در افزایش میزان خودکارآمدی شیردهی مادران و عملکرد آنان بسیار مؤثر بوده است و می‌تواند عملکرد زنان در رابطه با تغذیه با شیر مادر را ارتقا بخشد.
