Postpartum mental health is a critical concern in maternal health care. Research shows that 10%-20% of mothers experience postpartum depression, and many more face anxiety and stress. These problems not only affect maternal health but also affect mother-child relationships and infant development. Despite the importance of this issue, there is a significant gap in the integration of psychological support into obstetric care. In many countries, especially in resource-limited countries, such as Iran, screening for postpartum depression and anxiety is not standard, and many doctors and midwives do not have adequate training to identify mental health problems. This study examines this gap and the challenges associated with it, emphasizing the need to develop screening programs, train professionals, and create a supportive environment. It also examines the role of social support in reducing postpartum depression and the need for greater attention to it in health policies. Finally, the study suggests that care systems should adopt an integrated approach to postpartum maternal care that includes screening, education, and social support to improve the quality of life of mothers and infants.
