This study was done to determine the extent in which the nurse with in bed-patients in emergency wards of Hamadan educational hospitals. Materials & Methods: In this descriptive study 74 nurses were observed during 444 hours. The data gathered by observation of nurses with the structured observational check list and patients' satisfaction questionnaire. We used simple random sampling for nurses and their patients in each workday. Finally, the data saved and analyzed by SPSS. Results: Findings showed that 787 communications were recorded with minimum 4 times and maximum 30 times in a workday. The levels of patients' satisfaction were low in 29.5%, medium in 40.6% and high in 29.9%. There was no significant relation between patient satisfaction and nurse-patient ratio in relevant wards. Conclusion: The amount of communication was unsuitable and undesirable. Lack of enough time, stressful condition, and inadequate consideration to communication maybe some of the causing factors.  M3 ER -
