Objectives: The importance of teaching today has been considered . Maintaining the function and independence of individuals and promoting their lifestyle is affected by these trainings. It is important in patients with chronic diseases and hemodialysis treatment. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of education on lifestyle in hemodialysis patients.
Materials and Methods: In this research, a semi-experimental design of two groups with pre and post design was performed on 70 hemodialysis patients referred to Besat Hospital of Hamadan. For the intervention group, 6 sessions of 30 minutes of training during dialysis were held. Before and 3 months after the intervention, Volkers' Lifestyle Life Questionnaire was completed for both groups. Data were analyzed by using Chi-square, Fisher test, independent t-test, and paired t-test, using SPSS 16 software.
Results: There was no significant difference between the mean scores in all domains and the total score of lifestyle in the intervention and control groups before intervention (p <0.05). After the intervention, except for exercise and nutrition, there was a significant difference between the mean scores in other areas and the total score of life style in the test and control group (p <0.05).
Conclusion: Based on the results, education improves the lifestyle of patients undergoing hemodialysis. Considering the chronic nature of the disease, teaching these behaviors can be a powerful step to improve the lifestyle of these patients
