Background and Objective: Infertility creates a crisis in people's lives, which can have many psychological consequences, and one of the consequences is a decrease in the quality of sexual life. Infertile men's wives are under as much stress as infertile women in many areas, including the sexual area, and the present research has investigated the effect of existential group therapy on the quality of sexual life of infertile men's wives.
Materials and Methods:This research was a clinical trial that was conducted on 96 women suffering from primary infertility, which was due to male infertility, who had referred to Shokoufe infertility center in Shahrood city in 2018-2019. Sampling was done in a random block manner. The intervention group received eight existential group therapy sessions, one 90-minute session per week. At the beginning of the intervention and immediately after the intervention, both groups completed the demographic information questionnaire and the previous sexual quality of life questionnaire.The data were analyzed using independent t-test. and paired t-test were analyzed with SPSS version 25 software.
Results: Existential group therapy counseling was able to increase the quality of sexual life of infertile men's wives significantly (p<0.001).
Conclusion: It seems that existential group therapy can be used as an effective method to increase the quality of sexual life in infertility treatment centers and also in family courts of couples who intend to divorce due to infertility
