Background: Kidney transplantation is the best treatment in the final stages of kidney failure. Patient's quality of life is an important factor in graft survival in these patients that need social support. Therefore, the present study was conducted to determine the relationship between quality of life and social support in renal transplantation patients.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in Shahid Beheshti Hospital among 166 kidney transplant patients who were selected by convenient sampling method in the winter of 2016. Was data collected using personal information, Kidney Transplant Questionnaire (KTQ-25) and Vaux social support and analyzed using SPSS version 24.

Results: Results showed that the mean quality of life was maximum in appearance dimension and 57.2% of patients had good social support. There was a direct and significant correlation between social support and quality of life (p < 0.001 and r =0.371).

Conclusion: According to the results of this study, social support can be one of the factors affecting the quality of life of renal transplant patients. Therefore, considering the social support of patients and their training by health and medical personnel, they can be used as a low cost and effective way to improve their quality of life.
