Introduction: This study aimed to the compare and relationship between the meaning in life and self-esteem and quality of life of elderly living at home and living in nursing home.
Methods:  Study present epidemiological-analytical, done on a sample of 120 individual's elderly women and men living in the Khorramabad city, including 60 elderly living at home and 60 elderly living in nursing homes that were selected by systematic random sampling and cluster. To collect data, the Steger et al meaning in life (2006), Rosenberg Self-Esteem (1965) and Sherbvn & Weir quality of life (1992) questions. Data collected using Pearson correlation test, multiple regression analysis with stepwise and independent groups t were analyzed.
Findings: The results showed a significant positive correlation (correlation coefficient .209) between the meaning in life and quality of life in elderly (P<0/01). Self-esteem is also significant positive correlation (correlation coefficient .243) to quality of life in elderly (P<0/01). The results of multiple stepwise regression analysis also showed that the meaning of life and self-esteem were significant predictors for the quality of life. The results also showed that there is a significant difference between the meaning in life, self-esteem and quality of life among elderly living at home and living in nursing home.
Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it seems necessary to provide the necessary ground for improving and improving the quality of life of elderly people through the formulation, planning and presentation of appropriate policies.
