Abstract: (19 Views)
Background and Objectives: Rehabilitation nursing interventions increase the independence of these children with neurogenic bladder and their sense of control and self-confidence. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effect of rehabilitation nursing on the quality of life and self-esteem of children with neurogenic bladder.
Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test study was conducted on 100 children with neurogenic bladder referred to Shahid Hasheminejad Hospital in Tehran in 2025. Sampling was available and they were randomly divided into two intervention and control groups. The intervention group received rehabilitation education for 6 weeks. No intervention was performed in the control group. The Varney et al. (2003) and Cooper Smith (1967) children's quality of life questionnaires were completed before and after the intervention. The data were analyzed with SPSS version 24 software significance level of P<0.05.
Results: The total score of quality of life in the experimental group was (before 47.60±14.15, after 52.14±13.18) and the control group was (before 47.36±14.13, after 47.94±14.10). The total score of self-esteem in the experimental group was (before 26.90±7.33, after 31.68±5.90) and the control group was (before 27.20±6.50, after 28.66±7.47). The ANCOVA test after the intervention showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of total score of quality of life (P=0.000) and self-esteem (P=0.043).
Conclusions: The results showed the effect of rehabilitation nursing on the quality of life and self-esteem of children with neurogenic bladder.
